SLR AGRIKNOW YOUR MARKET

THE FIELD GUIDE

Read the market.
Understand the context.

Price history is one input into crop planning. Use it alongside growing conditions, costs, market access and advice from local agricultural experts.

What a price tells you

A report belongs to a particular date, market, crop, variety, grade and unit. A price per kilogram cannot be compared directly with a price per nut. Market prices can also differ from what an individual farmer receives after transport, sorting and other costs.

The current database contains limited, unverified records. Their original sources and price types are not yet documented. We display their actual report dates and flag missing or conflicting units. They should not be treated as current buying or selling quotes.

Once an authorized daily feed is connected, each series should carry its source, reporting date, crop variety and price type. AGMARKNET publishes agricultural market information through the Government of India’s open-data catalogue. It is a candidate source, not a claim that the current records came from it.

How to read a forecast

A forecast is an uncertain estimate, not a promised price. Our planned outlook will show an estimated range, forecast month, data-through date and measured accuracy on historical periods the model did not train on.

No forecast is currently published. A few isolated price records cannot establish seasonal patterns. We first need verified history and a model that performs adequately against simple historical baselines.

Before choosing your next crop

Compare expected revenue with seed, labour, irrigation, transport and storage costs. Consider the growing cycle and local conditions. A high price this month does not establish the price at harvest.
